Capacity Building for Carita Caregivers at Borobudur Temple Tourism Park
InJourney Destination Management is presenting Hospitality & Upskilling training for guides (Pamong Carita) at Borobudur Temple Tourism Park. The training, attended by 80 pamong carita, aims to improve the quality of service and competency of tour guides (Pamong Carita) at Borobudur Temple Tourism Park.
The training, which collaborated with the Borobudur Museum and Cultural Heritage (MCB) and the Indonesian Tour Guide Association (HPI) of Magelang Regency, consisted of materials on cultural heritage preservation as well as basic manners and public speaking. It aimed to strengthen the implementation of hospitality while increasing the capacity of tour guides with the spirit of Serving Wholeheartedly.
IDM Commercial Experience Group Head Galuh Indah explained that this training provided a refresher for the community leaders regarding their roles and responsibilities as the frontline in assisting tourists, including the messages and experiences that each visitor needs to convey and take home.
"Through the spirit of Wholehearted Service, the community leaders are expected to provide valuable and memorable experiences for tourists. This way, tourists will not only come once but also want to return," explained Galuh Indah at the opening of the training at the Borobudur Cultural Center on Monday (December 8, 2025).
Cultural heritage material is presented to ensure that the material presented by the caretakers aligns with the preservation efforts and noble values of Borobudur Temple. Meanwhile, material on basic manners and public speaking is part of enhancing the caretakers' capacity to deliver memorable material to tourists.
Commercial Head Group of PT Taman Wisata Borobudur, AY Suhartanto, expressed his full support for the implementation of this activity as a means of refreshing the Carita community, especially in the hospitality aspect and improving competence.
"This is what we need to present: how to impress visitors. Not just the objects themselves, but also the narrative and the service you provide," he explained.
Meanwhile, one of the TWC Borobudur guides, Johan Wahyudi (32 years old), said that through this training, he could improve himself, especially in improving his appearance when taking tourists.
"This training has taught me more about myself. It turns out there's a lot to consider when hosting guests, from good presentation to public speaking skills. The key to a successful storyteller's success lies in how they convey the story to their guests, including clarity of pronunciation and intonation, ensuring that visitors understand and are impressed by the story," he concluded.
