Bringing Benefits to the Community on the Momentum of the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence, InJourney Destination Management Inaugurates the Construction of Decent Housing for Residents of Kalasan, Sleman
The 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia is a momentum for PT TWC Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu (Persero) or InJourney Destination Management (IDM) to continue to provide real benefits to the community around the destination area. Through its social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) commitment, IDM inaugurated a Livable House (RLH) owned by Mrs. Kroniah, a resident of Grembulgede Hamlet, Selomartani Village, Kalasan District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, on Monday (17/8/2026).
The inauguration was conducted by Febrina Intan, President Director of InJourney Destination Management, and other members of the board of directors. This series of celebrations for the 81st anniversary of Indonesian Independence reaffirmed the spirit and values of a Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia.
"Our presence here isn't just about managing a destination, but more importantly, how TWC can provide benefits, especially to the surrounding community, both socially and economically," he explained.
Before the renovation, Mrs. Kroniah's house was a 6 x 7 meter non-permanent structure with woven bamboo or gedhek walls , a simple plaster floor, and decaying roof tiles. It also lacked bedrooms or adequate bathroom facilities.
Through the RLH development program, the house has undergone improvements in building quality and facilities. This permanent structure now has a ceramic floor, two bedrooms, a bathroom, a family room, and a clean kitchen, making it a safer, healthier, and more comfortable place to live that supports the family's basic needs.
The house construction was carried out over three months with the support of the local community, so that the renovation process not only resulted in a more suitable residence, but also strengthened the spirit of mutual cooperation as part of the social values that have grown within the community.
Kalasan Sub-district Head (Panewu) Representative Sidi Nugroho expressed his appreciation for the construction of livable housing and the support of the local community. This has contributed to improving the well-being of residents and fostering social solidarity among them.
"We also express our gratitude to all the community members who have worked together, shoulder to shoulder, to ensure the realization of these livable homes. We sincerely hope that these programs can reach those in our community who need them. This will ultimately benefit the surrounding community," he explained.
For Kroniah, this house is a more suitable residence and is able to provide a sense of security and comfort for her.
"My house used to be simple, but now it's much better, more comfortable, and safer to live in. I'm also happy because I now have a bedroom and bathroom. This assistance means a lot to me and my family," explained Mrs. Kroniah.
IDM President Director Febrina Intan stated that the existence of tourism destinations is inseparable from the communities that live and thrive around them. Therefore, IDM's destination management is not only focused on developing tourism experiences but also on creating a sustainable positive impact on the community.
"On this Independence Day, Mrs. Kroniah is also given the freedom to live a better, more decent life. Looking back, her previous home was quite deplorable. But thank God, today, as witnesses, we inaugurate the 56th decent home built by TWC," he continued.
The RLH program is a concrete manifestation of InJourney Destination Management's commitment to improving the quality of life for communities surrounding destinations. Since 2016, this affordable housing program has reached 56 homes belonging to underprivileged residents around the Prambanan and Borobudur Temple tourist areas.
This initiative is part of IDM's efforts to translate the spirit of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day into concrete actions. The spirit of "Indonesia is Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous" is not only realized through celebrations but also through contributions that directly benefit the community.
For IDM, independence represents an opportunity to further expand its benefits through responsible and sustainable destination management. The presence of the RLH in Grembulgede Hamlet is expected to be a concrete example of how the tourism sector can grow alongside the community while simultaneously generating positive social impacts.
IDM is committed to continuously providing added value to communities surrounding its destinations. The existence of tourist areas not only provides experiences for tourists but also plays a part in the community's journey towards a more dignified and prosperous life.
