TWC Strengthens Educational Content on Borobudur Temple by Holding Maritime Storytelling Training

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero), or TWC, is currently committed to developing quality tourism . One of its key priorities is educational content for tourists visiting Borobudur Temple Park.

"We are in the process of changing our paradigm, shifting from mass tourism to quality tourism . Until now, some tourists have come to Borobudur Temple simply to visit. Meanwhile, Borobudur Temple is rich in knowledge, teachings on morality, goodness, and so on, which would be a shame not to share with tourists," said Pujo Suwarno, Marketing & Sales Vice President of TWC.

As a Super Priority Tourism Destination, Borobudur Temple must be fully prepared to welcome tourists. TWC, as the manager of the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park, prepared staff by providing knowledge and insight into the stories of the Borobudur Temple reliefs through storytelling training. This training, attended by TWC employees, featured Eyang Bambang Eka Prasetya, a literary and cultural expert specializing in the art of reading reliefs.

"Through this Storytelling Training , we sincerely hope these staff members will gain new insights into the stories of the Borobudur Temple reliefs, which they can then use as resources when providing services to guests. These staff members will act as storytellers , telling various stories about the Borobudur Temple reliefs," added Pujo Suwarno.

Apart from preparations from the officer side, TWC is also apparently preparing a Travel Pattern , based on education and the people's economy towards Quality Tourism and Sustainable Tourism.

"TWC together with the Borobudur Conservation Center and the Magelang Regency Government, synergize and collaborate to prepare the Borobudur Travel Pattern , a thematic travel pattern that refers to relief in zone 1, activities in zone 2 and experiences in zone 3. So that tourists can be spread across the area and get a different visiting experience, as well as be well educated about the OUV of Borobudur Temple," continued Pujo Suwarno.

The Storytelling Training , held on September 23, 2021, coincided with National Maritime Day. The Borobudur Travel Pattern took several themes from the reliefs of Borobudur Temple, including maritime themes. For this initial opportunity, the theme studied was maritime.

"Training and strengthening of educational content on Borobudur Temple will continue to be conducted periodically. On this occasion, participants learned about maritime themes. For example, on the walls of Borobudur Temple, several ship reliefs are carved for study. Then in zone 2 (the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park area) is the Samudraraksa Ship Museum. And in zone 3 (the surrounding village area), tourists can enjoy culinary fish tours and batik making with ship motifs," said Pujo Suwarno.

Dariyat, one of the participants, said he was happy to be able to take part in this Storytelling Training.

"It's an honor for me to participate in this training. It's truly an extraordinary opportunity. I've gained a deeper understanding and gained a deeper understanding of the stories of the Borobudur Temple reliefs. Hopefully, we can share this knowledge with visiting tourists in the future," said Dariyat.
