Preparing for the Future before Retirement

InJourney Destination Management held a Post-Employment Training Program for 35 employees as part of the company's commitment to preparing for the transition to retirement. The five-day event, held from July 20–24, 2026, in Batu, Malang, East Java, was designed to provide training on health, mental health, financial well-being, and business development opportunities.

This program provides a more planned training environment for employees approaching retirement. Through a series of educational sessions, participants are encouraged to rediscover their potential, manage life changes through healthy living, and prepare their finances by exploring productive opportunities.

IDM Operations Director Indung Purwita Jati said that the program is a form of company appreciation for the dedication of employees and a form of company responsibility in preparing them to enter the next phase of life.

"This event demonstrates the company's commitment to recognizing that every retiree is an integral part of the company's journey. It is our responsibility to ensure that all employees entering retirement receive the respect and best possible preparation for their retirement," he explained.

According to him, the 35 participants are part of the company's best sons and daughters who for years have been dedicated to maintaining and supporting the management of destinations under IDM, starting from Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple, Ratu Boko Palace, to Theater & Performances.

"We recognize that entering retirement can bring mixed emotions. There's gratitude, but there's also the possibility of anxiety as we welcome a chapter in life we've never experienced before," he continued.

Based on this, the company designed a five-day training program with an approach that addresses various aspects of post-retirement life. Participants not only gain knowledge but are also encouraged to reflect and practice, enabling them to develop more realistic steps for facing the post-retirement period.

"That's why we're presenting this five-day program not as an administrative formality, but as a form of our responsibility to equip retirees physically, mentally, financially, and with business opportunities so they can move forward with a calm heart and a high head," said Indung.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Provisions

One of the main topics in the training is healthy retirement , which discusses stress management and nutritional needs for seniors. Participants gain an understanding of appropriate eating patterns for older adults, nutritional needs, and various ways to maintain good health after retirement.

In addition to the physical aspects, participants also received training on stress management techniques that can be applied in everyday life. This material is crucial because the change from work to retirement can require a psychological and emotional adaptation process.

The training also includes a mindful reflection session , or spiritual reflection, which provides participants with a space to pause, reflect on their life journey and the devotion they have undergone, and learn to let go of negative emotions from past experiences.

Through this reflective session, participants are encouraged to build acceptance of change, strengthen inner peace, and view retirement not as the end of productivity, but as a new phase that can be lived with a different perspective and purpose.

Financial Literacy to Maintain Financial Independence

The financial aspect is a key focus of this program. Through sessions on financial literacy and asset protection , participants receive training on managing severance pay, establishing financial priorities, and strategies for allocating funds to investment instruments with more manageable risk levels.

To provide a more practical overview, the training includes a simulation of preparing monthly expenses without a fixed salary. Through this simulation, participants can understand how to manage daily needs with available funds, while also establishing priorities to maintain long-term financial health.

This financial provision is expected to help participants make wiser decisions in using severance pay and existing assets, so that they can live their retirement with independence and a sense of financial security.

Driving Productivity through Entrepreneurship

In addition to health and financial literacy, IDM also equips participants with entrepreneurial insights. Through entrepreneurship sessions , participants are introduced to small-scale business concepts that can be tailored to their individual abilities, resources, experience, and environment.

The material aims to open the perspective that retirement can still be a productive period. Experience and skills gained during employment can be developed into capital for establishing new economic activities, either independently or through partnerships.

The briefing then continued with a practical digital marketing workshop for home-based businesses . Participants were encouraged to optimize their existing devices, especially smartphones , to support their home-based business product marketing activities.

In this session, participants practice creating engaging and aesthetic micro-scale product photo and video content, while also gaining an understanding of simple strategies for introducing products through digital channels.

Beyond conventional entrepreneurship, participants were also introduced to digital-based job opportunities, such as virtual assistant, freelance , and remote worker . This insight is expected to broaden participants' options for maintaining productivity and earning additional income according to their individual capacities and interests.

Preparing for a New Chapter with More Confidence

IDM Operations Director Indung Purwita Jati emphasized that the success of the retirement program is not only measured by how much material the participants receive, but also by the extent to which the provision can become real provisions for living life after retirement.

"We hope this program truly provides a strong foundation for you as you enter retirement with confidence, peace of mind, and continued productivity. Retirement doesn't mean stopping your work. It's an opportunity to open new doors, develop your potential, and enjoy the fruits of your long dedication to the company," he explained.

He believes the long journey of employees who have contributed to the management of cultural and tourism destinations is a vital part of the company's journey. Therefore, employee appreciation extends beyond their active employment period and is also demonstrated through efforts to prepare them for the next phase of their lives.

Through this Retirement Training, IDM hopes that participants will enter retirement with a more positive perspective, improved health, stronger mental preparedness, the ability to manage their finances wisely, and the courage to explore new opportunities. Retirement can be a meaningful, independent, and productive chapter in life, while also serving as a token of the company's respect for the dedication and dedication of its employees throughout their long journey with IDM.
